This is the holistic education which Gordonstoun pioneered. Our founder, Kurt Hahn, believed that outdoor activities, living in an international and diverse community and helping others, were as important as academic achievement. There is no school in the world quite like Gordonstoun. Our uniquely broad curriculum – with its emphasis on outdoor learning, physical activity, creativity, and service – does more than deliver academic success; it builds confidence, resilience, compassion, and character.
At the age of five, children’s brains are developing faster than at any other time in their life. The early years of education lay the foundation for the rest of their learning. Here at Gordonstoun, you won’t find children sitting in a classroom all day – not when there is so much to discover outside. A walk to the coast is an opportunity to learn about map reading, weather patterns, and to follow directions. An afternoon in our woodland campus is a chance to learn plant names, understand nature’s cycles, and to work in a team. All the while, our children are learning how to explore the world, discovering themselves, and developing a deep love of learning.
