| How can leaving a charitable gift in my will reduce inheritance tax? |

Whether you are making your will for the first time or are making changes to an existing will, it is important to seek expert advice. All UK charitable legacy gifts made to Gordonstoun from a taxable estate are exempt from Inheritance Tax because we are a registered charity. Inheritance Tax applies to estates valued over £325,000 and stands at 40%. A person leaving a charitable gift of 10% or more of the value of their taxable estate will receive a reduced rate of inheritance tax (36%). We proudly recognise all those who have pledged to include a gift to Gordonstoun in their wills through membership to the Kurt Hahn Foundation. You will be invited as a VIP to prominent school events and an exclusive annual lunch. We will also give you updates on the impact of your future giving and, with your consent, we can acknowledge you in our annual publications.

Your Will, Your Impact
Many alumni and friends choose to leave their legacy gift to 'where the school needs it most'. This means that your donation can be used for an area of the school where it will have the greatest impact.
You can, of course, leave a gift for a specific purpose, if you have a particular area in mind. Benefactors have chosen to leave a lasting mark on Gordonstoun through their generosity to a specific area of school life: scholarships for deserving students, restoration and upkeep of our historic buildings and beautiful campus or academic and co-curricular resources or activities. Please let us know if you would like to leave a specific gift so that we can ensure that we can accommodate your wishes.
