Our Community

Our founder Kurt Hahn considered “the foremost task of education” to be the development in young people of “an enterprising curiosity, an undefeatable spirit, tenacity in pursuit, readiness for sensible self-denial, and above all, compassion.”

To this day, compassion and service to others remain core to our ethos. Both staff and students engage in a wide range of charitable projects, locally and internationally, to support those in need.

It's not just what we teach in the classroom, it's the values we live by every day.

Open Gardens

Each summer Gordonstoun opens its grounds to the public for the annual Open Gardens, helping to raise valuable funds for over 200 charities.

Community Service

At Gordonstoun we ask students to commit their time and energy not just to the school community, but local and global communities too.To assist those in need, students volunteer to take part in rescue services, collaborate with local charities, and actively serve the local community.

The Junior Highland Games

The Junior Highland Games has been an annual tradition for over 30 years. One of our biggest fundraising events for local charities – and a perfect family day out - its aim is to provide a sporting challenge for Primary School school children in our area.

International Service Projects

Each year our international service projects give students the opportunity to help people from different cultures. In Thailand we have run a water project for over thirty-five years. In Kenya we build classrooms and help equip schools. And in Romania we’ve supported Little John’s – a centre providing respite care for people with special needs - for over 10 years.
