Student Care on Active Revision

Active Revision

The wellbeing of all students on the revision course will be closely monitored by an experienced pastoral team who will be in constant dialogue with the teaching staff, instructors and refectory personnel to ensure that everyone is fully supported at all times.

Accommodation

A good night’s sleep is absolutely essential to retain the facts, skills and ideas that have been blossoming in students’ brains all day.

With this in mind, bedtime is 22:15. Using devices is discouraged as it is proven to negatively impact sleep.

Students are accommodated in a boarding house, in single or twin rooms. There are both male and female wings, each with its own Houseparent.

Food

The Gordonstoun refectory has an excellent reputation for providing healthy, tasty food.

A special menu, created to boost focus and memory, is on offer for the revision week, with all dietary requirements catered for.

Kit List
As students do so much more than sit at a desk, here is a kit list for the Active Revision Course. It ensures everyone is well-prepared:
  • Indoor and outdoor trainers
  • Walking boots or trekking shoes (available to hire on arrival)
  • Tracksuit bottoms
  • Sweatshirt
  • T-shirts
  • Torch
  • Waterproof jacket and trousers
  • Water bottle
  • Warm jacket
  • Fleece
  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Warm socks
  • Formal attire for final graduation supper.
Mobile Phone Policy

Students have access to WiFi and electronic devices, including mobile phones, to assist with their learning.

Otherwise, social use of mobile devices is restricted to specific times of the day, to enable students to take full advantage of the learning and social opportunities on this course.

“Our daughter is now tuned into eating for studying and has been asking for some of the foods linked with enhancing studying. She has also started to work exercise into her study planning."
