Justine Walker introduces Windmill Lodge boarding house, while students explain why Gordonstoun is their home.
There are 8 boarding houses.
Each has its own distinctive character, and all have exceptional pastoral teams who devote their time, energy and expertise to developing, encouraging, advising and supporting the students in their care.
Boarding at Gordonstoun
Gordonstoun is home to students aged 8-18 from a wide range of countries, cultures and backgrounds. Living together in this close-knit international community encourages compassion, understanding and grace.
Students learn to be patient with younger pupils and respectful of older ones, developing their independence under the safe and watchful eyes of our dedicated staff.
As a fully boarding school we provide students with a stimulating, challenging and exciting range of activities seven days a week.
Our boarders are:
- Part of an inclusive, multicultural and close-knit community, learning first-hand to share cultures, customs and traditions.
- Forming close and meaningful friendships by sharing living, eating and sleeping space with their friends, all supported by trusted adults.
- Discovering independence through guided self-care and mentorship from our excellent and compassionate staff.
- Benefitting from a wider range of experiences thanks to living on site, where they can take every opportunity offered by our extensive range of facilities.
- Retaining a sense of stability and continuity for families who live overseas or parents who frequently travel for business.
The close-knit boarding community is immersed in a huge range of activities
PASTORAL CARE
“Sector-leading pastoral care which nurtures and supports each individual”
Education Scotland
At Gordonstoun, a dedicated and experienced pastoral team is on hand to support your child.
Houseparents (HPs) have overall responsibility for our students. They live in the boarding house with their families and the Assistant Houseparent (AHP). In partnership with the Matrons, the team provides the highest level of pastoral care, 24 hours a day.
This is further supported by a team of academic Tutors and Wellbeing Watchers – students who provide a bridge between staff and boarders.
