It’s the Gordonstoun motto. Our founder, Dr Kurt Hahn, believed that young people flourish when their horizons are broadened alongside academics. So he set out to develop other qualities too. His intention was to prepare his students for exams, and for life. This approach combines inspiring classroom learning with an exciting and varied range of out of classroom experiences. All students take part in our outdoor education and sail training programme, explore sports and the performing arts, and participate in one of the school’s nine services to the community. These experiences instil a can-do attitude and give students essential life skills like the ability to adapt to challenges quickly and confidently. |

To develop an understanding and respect for the wider world, our young people are encouraged to take on responsibility from an early age. And they rise to the challenge.
Students live in a supportive community that is one third Scottish, one third from elsewhere in the UK and one third from over forty countries around the world. We are diverse in culture, faith, aptitude and background, and take pride in the understanding and richness this brings.
Our location also sets us apart. You’ll find us in a safe, very beautiful, 200-acre woodland campus in the heart of Moray in the North of Scotland, just moments from the sea and hills.
Peaceful, yet accessible, with great international transport links, we are just 31 miles from Inverness and 65 miles from Aberdeen airport.
