Senior Boarding

Boarding

Gordonstoun is situated on a stunning 200-acre woodland campus, between the mountains and the sea in North East Scotland. It is the perfect location for an unrivalled educational experience full of discovery and adventure.

From the moment students arrive, they are welcomed into a supportive environment where they can thrive academically, socially and personally.

Boarding with us instils a sense of community, camaraderie and independence. Students learn to appreciate each other’s differences. Lifelong friendships are fostered. And boarding houses become second homes, where students develop essential life skills.

The positive, caring, family ethos of Gordonstoun School promotes a sense of trust, respect and kindness for all.

The full boarding campus provision has been an amazing opportunity for my children to study, socialise and grow in a safe and nurturing environment."

- K. Carmichael, Parent

House Parents and Assistant House Parents run the boarding houses, living-in to ensure a constant nurturing presence. Matron is never far away either; an invaluable member of our boarding family and often the first port of call for everything from a runny nose to help with housekeeping.

Additional support is provided by Wellbeing Watchers - students who provide a bridge between staff and boarders.

As one of the few remaining full-boarding schools in the UK, life at Gordonstoun is busy seven days a week.

At weekends students enjoy trips to the beach, cinema, bowling alley and historic buildings, or can take advantage of our swimming pool, climbing wall, dance studio, theatre, gym or fleet of dinghies.

Our dedicated staff are both kind and encouraging, adept at creating a home from home for every student within the boarding house. Our boarders are:

  • Part of an inclusive, multicultural and close-knit community, learning first-hand to share cultures, customs and traditions.
  • Forming close and meaningful friendships by sharing living, eating and sleeping space with their friends, all supported by trusted adults.
  • Discovering independence through guided self-care and mentorship from our excellent and compassionate staff.
  • Benefitting from a wider range of experiences thanks to living on site, where they are able to take every opportunity offered by our extensive range of facilities.
  • Retaining a sense of stability and continuity for families who live overseas or parents who frequently travel for business.
