Sector Leading Pastoral Care

Sixth Form

Whatever the issue, whatever the time.

Over 500 young people live at Gordonstoun, in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment. And our pastoral staff are here for every one of them, whatever the issue, whatever the time.

Houseparents - and their families and pets! - live within the boarding house. Together with Assistants and Matrons, they provide the highest level of care. Key Stage Leaders give additional support and arrange social activities such as cinema or beach trips, BBQs and ceilidhs.

Our pastoral care team also includes counsellors and the school Chaplain.  And, of course, educational needs are a top priority. Students meet their Tutor at least once a week to discuss progress, with Tutors being a key point of contact for parents.

The pastoral care and friendliness of the staff gives the children confidence to ask for help in the knowledge they will be supported.

Personal development and wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do.

Houseparents and their families – including pets! - live within the boarding house. And Assistant Houseparents and Matrons help to provide the highest level of care and support.

Key Stage Leaders provide additional support and also arrange social activities. Saturday nights are a real highlight, with activities such as cinema or beach trips, BBQs and ceilidhs.

Of course, educational needs are a top priority. Students meet their Tutor at least once a week to discuss progress, with Tutors a key point of contact for parents.

Our pastoral care team includes two counsellors and the school Chaplain. Whilst Gordonstoun is primarily Christian, we have always welcomed members of other faiths or no faith at all.

Gordonstoun is one of the last schools in Britain to meet every morning as a community. Michael Kirk was the original chapel for the Gordonstoun estate. Now, it plays an integral part in the school’s spiritual life, as a retreat from the busy school day.
