Broader curriculum, broader minds

Prep

Gordonstoun classrooms come in many shapes and sizes.

Every child takes part in a range of outdoor activities, sports and the performing arts. It helps pupils discover more about themselves, building self-confidence, resilience and teamwork and instilling a can-do attitude for life.

Internationalism

In a changing world, we want our pupils to be constructive and compassionate international citizens. Our Prep pupils come from all over the world, so everyone is introduced to a broad mix of people and cultures. Internationalism is also a core component of the classroom, via our unique International and Spiritual Citizenship classes.

Sail Training
All pupils at Gordonstoun Prep are introduced to water-based activities at our local harbour at Hopeman. The dinghies and kayaks build confidence and develop seamanship skills, preparing pupils for an exciting voyage on our 80-foot training boat: the magnificent Ocean Spirit of Moray.
Sports & PE
Physical Education and team sports are integral to a character education. Designed to build confidence and ability, and encourage teamwork, we offer a broad range of competitive, co-operative and creative opportunities, which include horse-riding and skiing. Pupils test their skills against schools and clubs across Scotland.
The Arts
We encourage every child to play a musical instrument, sing in one of our choirs or take part in dance or drama productions at our state of the art Performing Arts Centre. Our Prep musicians have recently performed in Madrid, Oslo and Amsterdam and many go on to play in our pipe band, concert band or one of the school’s two rock bands.

There exists within everyone a grand passion, an outlandish thirst for adventure, a desire to live boldly and vividly through the journey of life.
